In the second of back-to-back-to-backs the Monarchs kept it rolling last night with a solid 3-2 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (the Islanders AHL club).
Goals from Kings prospects Jordan Weal and Tyler Toffoli as well as PTO prospect Colton Yellow Horn gave the still-10th-place Monarchs the much needed victory, keeping pace with the Sharks (9th) and the Whale (8th) in a tight Eastern Conference race for 8th.
Jones stopped 35 shots and grabbed the win despite the Monarchs getting outshot by the opposition for the second consecutive game. Weal’s goal, his 8th, was the game winner in the third. Toffoli scored his 26th goal of the season, tying him with two others for the AHL lead.
The Monarchs finish up their triple header weekend in Maine today when they face a tough Portland Pirates team.
