The Fourth Period is again reporting the the LA Kings have ‘intensified’ their search for a defenseman in the wake of injuries to Matt Greene and Willie Mitchell. According to a “team source” General Manager Dean Lombardi wants a left-handed shot to play with Drew Doughty and/or Slava Voynov.

Doughty has been paired with rock-solid (and two time Stanley Cup winner) defenseman Rob Scuderi for quite some time. Voynov’s regular partner Mitchell traveled with the team on the current road trip and is expected to return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

Matt Greene will have surgery to repair a herniated disk and is expected to be out of the lineup anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks or longer.

if Drewiske play the way he did in Avs game i dont think DL will need to replace Greene spot…When Mitchell comes back.He take Muzzin spot and you should have 1 elite solid Defense man back and 1 solid defense as well

Yep. Which is all the more reason not to make a move unless it absolutely will improve the team. I’m afraid if a move IS made, it will be a significant one.
